Bettie M. Jenkins

Bettie Jane Mayer Jenkins, 80, passed away Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Dixie Medical Center in St. George, Utah following a battle with cancer. Born April 26, 1927 in Charleston, West Virginia to Mont A. and Margaret B. Middleton Mayer. She married Keith S. Jenkins September 28, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple. They resided in the Salt Lake City area for over 50 years, and for the last several years in St. George, Utah.
She was employed at Fashion Furniture in Salt Lake City for many years and was an active member of the LDS Church having served as a Stake Missionary, in a Primary Presidency and in the Relief Society Presidency in two different wards. She served in the Church Extraction program for 12 years. She was a good friend to all who knew her, a great home-maker, wonderful cook and was a loyal supporter to her husband in all of his work and church responsibilities. She was a devoted mother to her children.
Survived by her husband Keith, St. George, Utah; two sons and a daughter, Brent K, San Francisco, California; Glen M., Salt Lake City, Utah; and Anita M., St. George, Utah; granddaughter, Angie Perry, Portland, Oregon; four brothers, A. Preston Mayer, Arlington, Washington; Arthur Lee and William Mayer, Charleston, West Virginia; and Felix C. Mayer, Pikesville, Maryland.
Preceded in death by her parents and several loved aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2008, 12 Noon at the Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East South Temple where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment in the Newton, Utah city cemetery. Instead of flowers the family suggests contributions be make to the Huntsman Cancer Research, 500 Huntsman Way, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84108.
