Kenneth C. Severson

1914 ~ 2008

Our irreplaceable husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away February 16, 2008 at Sandy Regional Care Center.He was born on Sept. 27, 1914 to Charles and Loretta Severson in West Jordan, UT. In his early years, Ken worked on the family farm and in the years during the depression dropped out of school to help his mother and father through the tough financial times by doing any job available, no matter how difficult.

On August 28, 1940, Ken married Dorothy Johnson, his lifetime soul-mate and best friend. He entered the Army in December 1943 and was a member of the 830th Engineers serving in Germany, England, Scotland, and Ireland. He was honorably discharged in Dec. 1945.

Ken enjoyed camping with his family and friends and working hard. He was employed by Custom Furniture in Salt Lake City for 40 years as a furniture finisher. He was a perfectionist and took his work very seriously. Much of his work was for the LDS Church including the Salt Lake Temple, Jordan River Temple, Manti Temple, Los Angeles Temple, and numerous other temples in the United States and foreign countries.

Ken was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was very giving and generous and always ready to help no matter what the need. He never complained, no matter how difficult the challenge life put before him.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son David, granddaughter Angie Montgomery, sisters Fern and Norma, and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jack, and granddaughter Lisa Severson Apgood.

The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the staff at Sandy Regional Care Center for their caring, love, and patience during the last nine years of Ken's life.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. in Sandy. A viewing will be held Friday, February 22, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour before the services. For online condolences see www.larkinmortuary.com
