The Utah Blaze and the Colorado Crush completed their two-day workout scrimmages Wednesday. The Blaze then flew back home from Denver to Salt Lake City.

The joint practices with the Crush gave Blaze coach Danny White his first chance this season to see what his players could do against another Arena Football League club.

"To go against another team is really beneficial for us," Blaze lineman Devin Wyman said after Tuesday's practice. "It is good for us offensive lineman to get that kind of work in before the season."

The AFL does not have preseason contests. In lieu of the actual preseason games, teams are allowed to hold these types of joint practices.

"It's tough until you go through these scrimmages," White said. "Now we are going live against other guys, not your roommate or your buddy. Some real separation occurs. You can really see who has it and who doesn't."

The Blaze will have another chance to face an AFL opponent today, but this time it will be at home. In conjunction to the team's third-annual FanFest, the Los Angeles Avengers will be in town for a joint practice/scrimmage at EnergySolutions Arena.

The FanFest is set for 5-8 p.m. with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. Fans are invited to attend the event at no cost, and dollar hotdogs and drinks will be available.

Over the course of the evening, fans will have the opportunity to watch the Blaze and Avengers practice, get autographs, and meet the 2008 Blaze players and coaches. Fans will also get the chance to meet Chief and the 2008 Intermountain Harley-Davidson Blaze Dancers.

Utah will open the regular season on March 1 against the Arizona Rattlers at EnergySolutions Arena.
