LOGAN (AP) — A junior high student was hospitalized and several others fell ill after taking stolen niacin pills at school.
Police say a 14-year-old Mount Logan Middle School seventh-grader stole the pills from a local grocery story and provided them to his friends. School officials suspended the boy, who told his friends the pills would help them pass a drug test for marijuana.
Logan Police Capt. Eric Collins says the boy will face misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and theft.

Collins says none of the ill students will experience any lasting effects. Niacin is an over-the-counter supplement often used by body builders to dilate the capillaries and increase blood flow to the extremities.
