1926 ~ 2008

William R. Kastelic passed away on March 4, 2008.He was born March 20, 1926 in Murray, Utah to Joseph and Mary Kastelic. Married Jean LaVon Shaw February, 10, 1951. Together, they had two children, Robert and Paul.

He graduated from Murray High School in 1943 and attended the University of Utah in 1943 prior to entering military service with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the 1944 U of U NCAA Championship Basketball Team, and graduated from the U of U in 1958 with a B.S. in Geology.

William worked for 45 years in the mining industry for companies with interests principally in the Western U.S. and Alaska.

Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Mary; brothers, Joe, Albert and John; sister, Mary; son, Paul, and daughter-in-law, Kathy. Survived by wife, Jean; son, Robert (Tiffany); and grandchildren, Sarah, Zachary and Coleson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St., where friends and family can call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment: Murray City Cemetery. Online condolences:
