Timothy Edwin St. Clair

1950 ~ 2008

Timothy Edwin St. Clair passed away on Feb. 25, 2008. He died in Seattle, Washington from the only thing that could stop him from writing his next story. Pancreatic cancer.Tim was born June 6, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was carried home to Tooele in the loving arms of his parents Edwin A. St. Clair and Audrey M. St. Clair. Tim attended grade schools in Tooele, Poulsbo Washington and Grants New Mexico. He graduated from Tooele High School with the very special class of 1968. He attended the University of Utah receiving a degree in Journalism in 1972. Tim began his writing career with the Tooele High School Buffalog then moved on to the Daily Chronicle for the University of Utah. After graduation he worked for Utah Holiday, Soundings (a boating magazine on the east coast), the Salt Flat News, and the West Seattle Herald where he had worked for 20 years and was working when he died. Tim was truly loved there and in fact was named "Mr. West Seattle" which is being engraved in stone in downtown West Seattle. Tim also worked for Congressman Wayne Owens as an aid and speech writer where he wrote speeches, including one that Congressman Owens delivered to Congress which started the ball rolling on legislation that allowed the American public to watch the Watergate hearings on TV and opened the door for public viewing of our government in action. Tim was never one to blow his own horn but he was proud of that one. Tim also worked for Governor Scott Matheson, and former Salt Lake City Mayor Ted Wilson. Tim loved the outdoors and spent countless hours hiking with his friends and family. He could be found kayaking down the rivers and in the ocean. He was a Master Gardener and spent a lot of his vacation time in Tooele pruning trees and shrubs for his friends and relatives. Tim was the best uncle there ever was.

Tim is survived by his father Ed

(Sharon), brother Jeff (Penny) and step brothers: Scott, Mike (Brenda) and Chris Nelson, niece Allysha St. Clair Zeibig (Jay), nephews: Joshua (Michele) St. Clair, Zack St. Clair, Scott (Amy) St. Clair and Luke

(Cindy) St. Clair. He was preceded in death by his mother Audrey, and his brother Monte.

Memorial services will be held at the Eagles Nest located at Tooele Army Depot at 12 noon Sunday, March 9.

Tim had an insatiable curiosity about everything and spent his life learning the facts about all the stories that he wrote. His love for education is something that should be shared, so the family requests that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Tooele Federal Credit Union for the TIM ST. CLAIR SCHOLARSHIP FUND. This scholarship fund will provide ongoing opportunities for highly qualified African students to receive a college education. Checks should be made out to: koinsforkenya-sambura, a 501 (CS) Organization. Any questions please E-mail Rinda Hayes:
