1914 ~ 2008
On March 3, 2008, Ethelyn Larson Roberts rejoined her sweetheart, Louie, daughter, LuAnn, granddaughter, Erin Rolfson, great-grand-daughter, Claire Gibson and extended family. She was born July 16, 1914, to Rudolph V. Larson and Rebecca A. Peterson in Smithfield, Utah, the youngest of five children: Constance, Vincent, Vernon and Ardis. She excelled in school and graduated from North Cache High School at 16 years of age. She graduated from Utah State University in 1935.
Her 93 years on this earth were lived fully. Ethelyn began teaching home economics at Jordan High School and later at Uintah High School in Vernal, Utah. She married Louis A. Roberts on May 26, 1939 in Salt Lake LDS temple. They lived in Los Angeles, California; Cheyenne, Wyoming; Grand Island, Nebraska; and settled in Waukegan, Illinois. In Illinois, she taught elementary school for 20 years. Her life was also spent giving service in many church callings and with her husband she served two temple missions to the Washington DC temple. She enjoyed traveling and family gatherings especially memorable trips to Bear Lake.
She is survived by her children, Rebecca (Richard) Haynie, Fresno, California; Ronald (Debbie), Cottonwood Heights; Don (Jill), Lewiston, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 11 a.m. at Salt Lake 14th Ward, 142 W. 200 N. Family and friends may call at the ward 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at the Smithfield City Cemetery at 3 p.m. Sat.
