LOGAN — A feasibility study of a countywide library system for northern Utah's Cache Valley is finding little support among the mayors in the county.

Mayors say they fear a loss of local control over their small but functional libraries.

North Logan Mayor Cary Watkins says his city has made a substantial investment in its library, and he can't see how residents would benefit from a countywide system.

Other concerns include offending local library donors and changing library locations, which could restrict access for some residents.

Cache County Councilman Craig Peterson is on the committee studying a countywide system. He say he hopes the cities will wait for a specific proposal before shutting the book on the idea.
