Police are looking for a man who threatened employees with a hypodermic needle when he tried to rob two Salt Lake businesses Thursday.
The man first entered the Strand Salon, 2236 S. 1300 East, about 11:50 a.m., said Salt Lake Police Lt. C.T. Smith. "He brandished a hypodermic syringe and threatened employees and demanded money," Smith said.
When employees said they did not have any money, the man, a 5-foot-8 Caucasian wearing a black hoodie, sunglasses and a baseball hat, left on foot.
Police said 15 minutes later, a man matching that description walked into a Starbucks at 910 E. 900 South and again threatened employees with a syringe.
"They said they were unable to open the safe and he fled on foot," Smith said.
Witnesses also said the man was wearing brown gloves and khaki pants, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 799-3000.
