SANDY — A man was in very serious condition Wednesday evening after police say a coworker accidentally shot him in the stomach with a rifle.
The shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. in an apartment near 9200 S. Riverside Drive (700 West). So far, investigators are calling it an accident, said Sandy police Sgt. Victor Quezada.
"It appears to be an accidental shooting," he said. "But we're not quite sure if everything is adding up."
Police said a female shot the 46-year-old man once in the stomach with a rifle, but Quezada did not immediately know the details surrounding the shooting.
The man was taken to the University of Utah Hospital in "very serious condition," Quezada said. Police have not released the names of the man or the woman.
