Salt Lake City police were looking for a suspected bank robber Monday whom they hoped to catch red-handed ... and possibly red-faced and red-chested, as well.
About 10 a.m., a man walked into First Utah Bank, near 100 East and 1300 South, said he had a gun and demanded money, said Salt Lake police detective Bob Eldard.
He received an undisclosed amount of cash and left. But about a block away, a dye-pack placed with the money exploded, Eldard said.
The robber dropped some of the money and fled.
Investigators were looking for a black male, about 5-foot-7 with a medium build. He was wearing jeans and had a mask covering his face. Investigators say he also should have a lot of red dye on his clothes and hands.
