The Utah Department of Health's Bureau of Health Promotion has created a story bank online to let Utahns share health stories that highlight their hopes, strengths and struggles.
They can be found at health.utah.gov/bhp/sb/.
People who visit the site can register and submit their stories, which will be kept confidential and will only be shared with express permission from the person submitting the story. Stories are screened for appropriate language and content.
The release announcing the story bank calls storytelling a time-tested teaching practice that is "used to share messages and make them memorable. The method has been found effective in a variety of informal and formal settings."
The bureau hopes the stories will allow people to learn from each other and make healthful changes and choices.
