Three Salt Lake pitchers combined to throw a five-hit shutout, as the Bees blanked the Tucson Sidewinders 4-0 Monday night. Giancarlo Alvarado started and went five innings and allowed just three hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Jeff Kennard and Matt Wilhite each worked two scoreless innings with Wilhite (1-0) earning the win.
It was 0-0 going into the ninth when Matt Brown led off with a double. Brandon Wood singled with Brown advancing to third and Sean Rodriguez walked to load the bases with no outs.
The Bees have now opened the season with a five-game winning streak for the first time in franchise history.
