James William Isenhour Jr.
1923 ~ 2008
James William Isenhour Jr., died April 28, 2008 in Whittier Ca. while residing at the home of his daughter, Karen. He was born in Salt Lake City on October 10, 1923, to James William and Jessie Clegg Isenhour. A child of the depression, Dad learned early in life the value of hard work. It was while attending West High School he met Doris Humphrey who would become his loving wife and his lifelong companion. They spent 57 years together before she passed away in 1999. Their only separation was during the three years Dad fought in World War ll. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served as a Gunner's Mate on a PT boat, and spent most of the war in and around the Philippine Islands. He was always proud of his military service and recently realized a dream when his children took him to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Dad retired from Kennecott Copper Smelter Works after 43 years of service. He was a hard worker all of his life, and often said "I realized that there wasn't any problem that couldn't be solved by getting up and going to work every day." His great joy was being able to provide for his family.
Dad is survived by his children: daughters, Karen (Lee) Lantz, Diane (Jim) Raaum, and son James G. (MaryAnn) Isenhour as well as 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sweetheart, Doris, brother Wayne, and sisters Norma and Shirley.
