Eugene V. Gough
1931 ~ 2008
Eugene V. Gough passed away May 7, 2008 after a valiant battle with pulmonary fibrosis.He was born on April 3, 1931 in Salt Lake City, UT to parents Frank and Veneda Stewart Gough. He married Penny Diane Fry in the Salt Lake Temple on Dec. 28, 1956.
He was a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America for 60 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served on the High Council, as a Bishop and enjoyed serving as a Gospel Doctrine teacher. He faithfully served an LDS mission in 1950-1952 in the Northern California Mission. He and his wife, Penny, served a construction mission and taught high school in Samoa from 1959-1962.
Gene graduated from South High School, received his B.A. from San Jose State and his M.A. degree in Education at BYU. Gene taught Industrial Education for 32 years in Granite School District. He was involved with VICA and enjoyed winning competitions with his students.
Gene enjoyed several hobbies such as woodworking, fishing and loved working in his garden and yard.
He is survived by Penny (wife), daughter, Liane Anae (Robert), sons, Loren Jay (Janae) and Noel. Grandchildren, Brittany (Josh) Wessel, Tyson Gough, Fá amika Anae, Penny Anae and Max Anae, great-grandson, Gavin, sister, Jennie Baumann.
Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Stewart, Ray, Jack and Roy.
Funeral service will be held on Mon. May 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Little Cottonwood 9th Ward, 1160 East Vine Street, Murray, UT. Viewing prior to service from 10- 10:45 a.m. Family and friends may visit Sun. May 11, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 So. 900 East, Murray, UT. Interment at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, UT.
