Christena McCashland

1961 ~ 2008

OGDEN Our precious daughter, Christena McCashland, 46, left her second estate to return home to our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, 6 May 2008.

She has left behind her mortal body which has served her well as she accepted and completed many challenges in her journey on this earth. Her accomplishments are great. She brought sincere joy into the lives of all she met.

Christena was born on 11 July 1961 and was cherished by parents, Naaman W. and Clista Bills McCashland. She was later joined by a "bro," Kent Naaman McCashland and "sissy" Laurie McCashland Earley.

"Christy" attended Gramercy Elementary, Wahlquist Jr. High, and graduated from Roy High School in 1983. She was a seven-year graduate of the LDS Seminary program. She loved collecting Precious Moments, playing table games, cross-word and word search puzzle books, and excelled in jig-saw puzzles. She surfed the net; she enjoyed receiving and sending e-mails to her computer-literate friends; and new computer games. She loved to tease those closest to her, especially her Dad (who she called "Trouble"), and her quick wit and laughter were contagious.

Being an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Christy had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and lived it to the nth degree. She had served on the Stake Young Women's Camp Committee in her younger years, and was recently called as a Family History worker for the home-computer-input program. Christena loved most of all to be with her family and spending time with all of her special extended family members with whom she shared close bonds, especially older "red-headed" cousins who adored her.

The family would like to express appreciation and gratitude for the many kindnesses evidenced in thought and deed, especially those home care givers who attended to Christy on a daily basis, Doctors N. Brent Williams and Harold Johnson, and to the doctors and medical staff on the 5th floor of McKay-Dee Hospital for the many services rendered with loving attention during Christy's final days.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Christena's name to the Primary Children's Hospital, LDS Perpetual Education Fund or the LDS Humanitarian Service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-mortuary.com
