Maxine Wilson Kreipl

1915 ~ 2008

On May 9, 2008, the Utah Jazz lost one of their greatest fans. Maxine Kreipl, age 92, peacefully passed away at her home in Sandy. Born Sept 28, 1915 to Wilford E. Wilson and Bertha Christensen. She married Moroni Kreipl on Feb 28, 1938 after 7 years of courtship and was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on Feb 15, 1997. Maxine lived a long and happy life. Her family brought her great joy and happiness and she was affectionately known as "Grandma Great." She worked 40+ years at Tracy Collins Bank and Trust. She and grandpa owned Holland Dutch Bakery and were also co-owners of Log Haven Restaurant. Mom loved Roulette, theater trips to New York, Bingo at Fort Douglas, lunches at Cowboy Grub, her condo at Park West and the weekly Quiddler game with her daughter, sister and cousin. She loved living these past 5 years at South Towne Ranch playing bingo, the "horse races" and was lovingly known as "Miss Jazz."

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Vera and Bernice and brother-in-law, Stan Sprouse. She is survived by one sister, Barbara Sprouse of Murray; children, Kaye (Stan) Tait of Sandy; Jean Shoemaker of Sandy; and John (Claudia) Kreipl of St. George; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 12 great great-grandsons with three more great great-grandsons on the way (and hoping she'll send us her first great, great granddaughter).
