Alice Maud Mehl
1962 ~ 2008
Our lovely and true friend, mother, wife, sister and daughter, Alice, passed away suddenly on May 10, 2008 in a tragic horse accident at Riverbend Farms.Alice was born on May 19th, 1962 in Klerksdorp, South Africa. Her parents, Brian Philip and Elizabeth
Susanna Magdalena Botha, both still reside in Pretoria, South Africa. Alice and her family, husband Rudolf Alan, daughter Esme (25), and sons, Brian Philip (16) and Johannes (Joe) Martunis (23) moved to the United States in 1996 and came to Draper, Utah in 1998. Alice chose Utah for her family to call home for its beautiful mountains and all the outdoor activities it provided.
Alice was a brilliant light and delightful spirit that left this life way too soon. She loved her family first and foremost, in a way that most people cannot comprehend. Alice and her family love to travel together. They are also avid jet-skiers, divers, and 4-wheelers. The outdoors was something that Alice could never get enough of.
Her second love was that of her animals: her beloved Thoroughbred gelding, Snappy; her precious young half Oldenburg/Arabian filly, Dot; her delightful little dog, Buddy; and fat little kitty, Africa.
She also spent much of each day caring for her beautiful birds: Ozzie, a blue Macaw; Cisco, a red Macaw; and Gabby, her darling Cockatoo. And, of course, Goliath, her giant Iguana who is a wonder and a fascination.
Alice loved to collect beautiful dolls, unicorns and the Painted Ponies. Her home is warmly decorated with affection, including so many lovely photographs of her family, artworks and collectibles.
Alice always had a smile that lit up the room and will be dearly missed by her family and friends alike.
