Frankie Vera Wilson Maddocks

1919 ~ 2008

Frankie Vera Wilson Maddocks died of causes attendant to aging on May 11, 2008. She was born on March 1, 1919 in Salt Lake City.

Frankie graduated from Granite High School in 1937 where she met her husband of 65 years, George Maddocks, at a basketball game. Together they had three children, Marvin Maddocks (Midland, Texas), Lynette Gatlin (San Antonio, Texas), and Cathryn Collis (Salt Lake City). In addition to raising her children, Frankie worked at various times for the Rose Hill Dairy (with George as a "hopper" on a milk route) and O.C. Tanner Jewelry in Salt Lake City, and Malmrose Pharmacy, Hamilton Drug, Smith's, and Box Elder Bank, all in Brigham City.

Frankie and George lived in Brigham City from 1955 to 1998 and were active in the Order of the Eagles and its auxiliary, in which Frankie held several offices.

Frankie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Joanne Neff Sorenson, and is survived by sisters, Carol Hatch (Ogden) and Marion Andersen (Brigham City), her children, seven grand-children, and seventeen great-grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service at the Brigham City Cemetery on Wednesday, May 14 at 1:30 p.m.

The family extends its warmest thanks and gratitude to the caring staffs of the Orchard Cove Alzheimer's unit and South Davis Hospice in Bountiful who cared for Frankie on a daily basis for many months at the end of her life.
