Two bodies found within 75 minutes of each other this morning have kept Salt Lake police detectives busy.
Just after 7:30 a.m., a man driving by the freeway on-ramp at 800 West and 400 South noticed what he thought was a body on the ground, just under the overpass, said Salt Lake police detective Rick Wall.
Police arrived and found the body of a deceased man. There were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play, and the man was not carrying any ID, Wall said.
The death was being treated as suspicious until proven otherwise, Wall said. The State Medical Examiner took the body away to conduct an autopsy.
Investigators were looking into whether the man was a transient.
About 8:45 a.m., in an unrelated incident, another passerby noticed a vehicle parked in front of an apartment near 550 South and 400 East. Because it was a vehicle he didn't recognize, he stopped to look inside and saw what appeared to be a motionless body, Wall said.
Police were called and confirmed there was a dead man in the back of the SUV, laying on the seats that were folded down. Investigators believe the man was in the car since at least Tuesday night.
Again, there were no obvious signs of foul play on the middle-age man, but an autopsy was scheduled to be conducted.
