J. Allen Tanner

1923 ~ 2008

OGDEN- Joseph Allen Tanner, 85, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital.

He was born April 22, 1923 in Ogden, a son of Mathias C. and Avilda Allen Tanner.

On May 2, 1946, Allen married Lola Dewey in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lola preceded him in death on August 12, 2003.

He was raised and educated in Ogden. He divided his time between Ogden and Arizona for many years.

Allen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings. His most recent calling was that of Service Missionary.

He served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II and continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 1973.

Allen was an x-ray technician at the old Dee Hospital and became the chief technician at McKay-Dee

Hospital.

He served on and was proud of his work with McKay-Dee Credit Union and Utah Central Credit Union. Allen loved painting with water color and oil paints. He also loved to travel extensively with his wife, Lola and his family throughout the world.

Surviving are two sons, Gregory C. (Karen) Tanner, Sandy; Douglas A. (Vickie) Tanner, West Jordan; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Edythe L. Tanner, Citrus Heights, CA.

The family wishes to thank the staff in ICU at McKay-Dee Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Sat. at 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Sat. 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
