Evelyn Vietti Hunter

1909 ~ 2008

Beloved wife, sister, aunt and grandmother, Evelyn Vietti Hunter passed away May 10th 2008 of causes incident to age, with her family close by her side.Evelyn was born February 9, 1909 in Bingham, Utah, the daughter of James and Minnie Bruno Vietti. Evelyn was born of Italian heritage, the fourth of six children and was raised learning about hard work and frugality. Evelyn later moved to Salt Lake City where she worked for Smith-Foss Drug Co. She then met and married Lyman P. Hunter in 1948, with whom she enjoyed many years of marriage filled with U.S. and European travels before his death in 1985.

Evelyn was a dear, selfless person- always positive, happy and finding joy in giving to others. In her 100th year of life when asked what her secret to a happy life was, she replied, "Smile a lot."

A special thanks to her caregivers from Age Connection and Pinnacle Hospice for their loving care of Evelyn. A very special thanks to her niece, Susan, who loved and cared for her as a mother and her grandson, George L. Hunter, for his love and devotion.

Preceded in death by her husband, Lyman; sister, Norrine Willie; sister, Theresa Dorius; and brothers, Edward and Reynold Vietti. Survived by niece, Susan Dorius Bills; nephews, Richard Dorius, Randall Willie, Stanford Willie, six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2008 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Lupus Foundation of Colorado, (info@lupuscolorado.org) in Evelyn's memory. Funeral Director Evans and Early Mortuary, Salt Lake City, UT.
