Marco Werner and Lucas Luhr — 66 points

In the revolutionary diesel-powered Audi R10, the duo kicked off the season with a second-place finish in LMP1 at the 12 Hours of Sebring but captured victories at the next two events — St. Petersburg and Long Beach.

Werner, a world-class racer, has 45 starts in the American Le Mans Series and 38 podium finishes.

Luhr is a three-time series champion — 2002 and 2003 — in GT class with Alex Job Racing and 2006 in LMP2 with Penske Racing, all with co-driver Sascha Maassen.

LMP2

Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas — 66 points

Car: No. 7 Porsche RS Spyder

The Porsche drivers captured the overall win at the 12 Hours of Sebring, giving Porsche its first overall win at the historic circuit in 20 years. The duo won the LMP2 class at St. Petersburg and finished second in class at Long Beach. The two claimed six overall victories in 2007 and the LMP2 championship in 2007 with Penske Racing.

Bernhard, despite being the young age of 26, has claimed two series championships — 2004 in GT and 2007 in LMP2 — and has started 68 races with 27 wins.

Dumas is one of 20 American Le Mans Series drivers boasting Formula 1 experience. The Frenchman has 46 starts with 36 podium finishes.

GT1

Johnny O'Connell and Jan Magnussen — 66 points

Team: Corvette Racing

Car: No. 3 Corvette C6.R

The motor sports veterans pilot the No. 3 cellulosic (noncorn-based ethanol) E85-powered Corvette C6.R. The duo captured the GT1 victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring followed by a second place finish in St. Petersburg. Long Beach proved to be victorious as well giving the duo a four-point lead over their sister team.

O'Connell is a two-time American Le Mans Series champion — 2003 and 2004. Among multiple records held, O'Connell has started the most races (87) and claimed the most top-three finishes (66) in series history.

Magnussen has been involved in the series since its inception in 1999. He was voted Most Popular Driver by American Le Mans Series fans in 2003.

GT2

Dirk Mueller and Dominik Farnbacher — 54 points

Car: No. 71 Ferrari 430 GT

Following a seventh-place finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring, the duo claimed back-to-back class wins at St. Petersburg and Long Beach.

Farnbacher, at the young age of 23, has 17 starts in the series with two wins and four podium finishes, including a second place finish at the 2007 Petit Le Mans.

Mueller claimed the 2000 GT championship and has started 37 times with 10 wins. He holds the record for most consecutive pole positions (eight) in 1999 and 2000.
