In the historical photo, a load of items is delivered to the Deseret Store and Tithing Office from St. George. The office stood on the corner of South Temple and Main where the Joseph Smith Memorial Building — formerly the Hotel Utah — is today. Church members would bring their tithing, whether cash or supplies, to the building. The tithing office, which also was the first home of the Deseret News, stood until 1909, when it was torn down to make way for the Hotel Utah.
