In regards to "'Idol' is not newsworthy" (Readers' Forum, May 12): I think with the lack of integrity in this world, we are forced to fill our lives with filth. Most icons of today are not the heroes that deserve our praise or respect but rather the idols that receive our thoughtless admiration regardless of their personal integrity.
I could understand having David Archuleta from "American Idol" as my hero if he were doing something more than just sharing his talent. Why are the true heroes of the world left forgotten in the dust of Iraq or in the faded memories of 9/11, replaced by the image of a singer on our high-definition TVs?
