Mountain View High School has hired Andrew Blanchard as the Bruins' new girls basketball coach.
Blanchard, a graduate of Weber State University and former team captain for Salt Lake Community College, replaces Laura Romo, who is moving back to North Carolina at the end of the school year. Romo taught and coached at Mountain View for 19 years.
For the past six years, Blanchard has served as an assistant boys basketball coach at West Jordan High under head coach Scott Briggs. Last year, he was the Jaguars' head junior varsity coach.
"He will certainly make a great addition to our staff both in the classroom and on the court," Mountain View assistant principal Jennie Wilson said. "He brings a lot of energy, intensity and enthusiasm to the Mountain View girls basketball program."
