Maybe he was not so Chihuahua after all. After 56 million people voted last night, LDS finalist David Archuleta is one of two finalists headed to Fox's "American Idol" season finale next week, but could Archuleta really become the next American Idol?Absolutely!Despite wrong song choice, shaky voice, sickness and forgetting the lyrics, Archuleta has been consistent week after week with above-par performances, humility and personality making it really hard for him to do wrong, at least in the eyes of voters.Whether you like him or not, Archuleta will be going head to head with finalist David Cook next week, as finalist Shyesha Mercado leaves to join the other top-10 finalists as they prepare for the American Idols Live Tour 2008.So, what will guarantee Archuleta the coveted title of "Idol"? It is probably too late to try something new, or push any boundaries, but how will he set himself apart from the talented well-rounded Cook? Maybe another performance like Tuesday night's first performance when Archuleta sang Billy Joel, or when he performed the "The Long and Winding Road" by John Lennon could bring him the title. It surely has been a long and winding road for Archuleta and whatever he does it is bound to secure him even more into the hearts of his fans.At this point it is up in the air as to who will come out on top next week, but stay tuned as MormonTimes.com brings you the latest after each show as the America crowns the next "American Idol."To view Archuleta's Tuesday performances please click here to watch him perform "And So It Goes" by Billy Joel.
