A young pregnant woman was stabbed in the shoulder during a fight Monday evening.

Around 5:30 p.m., the 18-year-old was stabbed in the back near 500 North and 700 West, said Salt Lake police Lt. Isaac Atencio.

The victim was driving with her mother and was being followed by a group of girls in another car, police said. Eventually the pregnant woman and another female stepped out of their cars and began fighting, Atencio said. A third female then became involved and pulled out a folding knife and stabbed the victim in her shoulder, police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital in fair condition, police said.
