Jens Douglas Roberts
1920 ~ 2008
Age 87, passed away May 21, 2008. Doug was born September 7, 1920, in Melba, Idaho to Frank E. Roberts and Ellen Cecelia Larsen. His family moved back to Mt. Pleasant, Utah in 1929, were he grew up fast when his father died accidentally in 1935.
A veteran of World War II, he served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters with the U.S. Navy. After the war, he worked 37 years for United Airlines at both the Salt Lake and Denver Airports. He married Edith Christianson on June 30, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they raised seven children.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; children, JD (Becky), Harv (Catherine), Tonya Michie, Tony (Dot), Deliliah (Tim) Sant, Fred (Dawn), and Cindy (Terry) McGinnis; brothers, LaVon, and Enos; sisters, Frances, June, Lillian, and Louise; 28 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his sister, Hilda, son-in-law, Allan Michie and granddaughter, Lisa Dawn Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Olympus 12th Ward, Adonis Drive and Gary Road (4176 South and 3930 East), SLC, Utah. A viewing will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant Utah Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund.
