BYU

BASEBALL: New Mexico beat the Cougars 15-6 in Game 3 of their MWC series Saturday at Larry H. Miller Field.

The win kept New Mexico within a game of first-place TCU as the Lobos improved to 29-20, 13-5. BYU dropped to 19-28, 7-11. BYU plays Monday at Utah Valley at 7 p.m.

Utah Valley

BASEBALL: No. 9 Oklahoma State put up seven runs in the bottom of the third and went on to beat Utah Valley 9-4 to pick up a sweep of a Saturday doubleheader in Stillwater, Okla.

The Cowboys (35-11) have now won the first three games of the series and 12 in a row overall, while the Wolverines drop to 12-31-1 with the loss.

SOFTBALL: The Wolverines completed a four-game sweep against Cal State Bakersfield Saturday with 11-5 and 5-4 wins. The Wolverines improved to 16-32 on the season, and the Runners ended their season with a record of 22-25.

Utah

BASEBALL: The Utes dropped a 6-3 decision to TCU in league action.

TCU belted out five of its eight hits in the first three innings. The Horned Frogs plated all six runs during that span. Utah, which couldn't buy a hit in the first three innings, had seven hits in the last six frames. The Utes scored three runs the rest of the way, but it wasn't enough as TCU rode its efforts from the first three innings for the three-run win.

The Utes (16-23, 5-11 MWC) loaded the bases twice late in the game in trying to stage a comeback.
