Lowell Simons Peterson left his earthly life to join his eternal companion Laverne on May 4, 2008.Born April 26, 1927 in Murray, UT to Hanmer E. Peterson and Ruth Edna Simons Peterson.
Lowell attended and graduated from Richfield High and would later graduate from the U of U with a Master's degree in Architecture. Married Ruth Sumners, later divorced. Married his eternal companion Laverne Pearl Chapin on July 13, 1962 in the Manti Temple. He served in various church callings throughout his life.
His childhood and teenage years were spent in Richfield, UT. After graduating from High School he would serve in the Navy in Chicago, ILL. Then he went on to serve an LDS mission and on returning to Utah he would pursue his goal and career of Architecture. His accomplishments included designing the master plan of the BYU Campus and many other buildings throughout Utah.
In his later years he enjoyed spending time hiking with his grandchildren, drawing with his "little Laverne", family parties with his children and telling stories from his childhood to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by daughters, Debra (George) Cornick, Marla Marie Peterson; sons, Steve (Chanin) Peterson, David Peterson, Joel (Brenda) Peterson; grandchildren, Lindsay, Nate, James, Julia, Brandon, Charles, Alex, Natasha, Justin and Kelsie; great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, wife, Laverne and son, Larry.
Dad and Grandpa we will miss you very much and miss your sweet smile and loving hugs. Your love and devotion to our family will be in our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 12:00 noon at Butler 8th Ward Chapel, 2695 East 7000 South, Cottonwood Heights, with a viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Friends and family may visit Friday, May 9, 2008 at a viewing from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT. Online condolences at www.larkincares.com
