Sweetheart, Mom, Grandma

Karen Steele returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father unexpectedly Wednesday morning, June 11, 2008 from heart complications.Karen was born in Murray, Utah on April 12, 1947, to Jane D. and George Randolph Sharp, the youngest of seven children.

She married her High School sweetheart and was sealed to him and their children in the Salt Lake Temple April 12, 1986. She shared a deep devotional love with her family and LDS Church. She loved Christmas and was the most giving mom and grandma.

Her greatest gift was the love of her family, Her greatest blessings were her children, grandchildren, and her beloved husband of 44 years.

She cherished making and sharing memories with her family. She was always happiest when surrounded by them. She loved to talk, laugh and go on long drives. She had multiple talents as a homemaker including awesome Cookbook author.

Karen touched the hearts of everyone she knew. She was always willing to give of herself and her time from her many callings including, Relief Society President, and counselor, Primary President, Relief Society Stake Secretary, Temple worker and Young Women's President. She had a very special connection with children. Her #1 calling was as a wife and mother. She taught by example the gift of love and giving. After a diagnosis of ovarian cancer in 2006, with faith and determination, she was a survivor, and made the best of every moment.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Karen is survived by her husband, Richard [Dick] Steele, children, Shellie and (Tracey) Bakelar, Richard (Rick) and (Leona) Steele, Marcie and (David) Sanchez, Tiffany Steele, Mindy and (Dave) Addington, and Chikako and Russ Hokanson; grandchildren: Jayde, Sterling, Alex, Wyatt, Akaysha, Joshua, Savannah, Derek, Crystal, Morgan, Sabrina, and Andrew; brother and sisters, Bonnie, Gordon, Marilyn, Val, and Ted.

Preceded in death by parents, infant son Cliff Richard, and sister Randolyn Brady.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jolles, Dr. Di Fiore, and Rosie Conder along with the Utah Cancer Specialist Clinic for the excellent care they provided.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., June 14, 2008 at the Midvale East LDS Ward, 240 E., 7570 S. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Fri., June 13, 2008 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State St., and Sat. at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 am. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
