Gerald DeMill

1918 ~ 2008

Beloved husband, father and grandfather Gerald DeMill, age 89, passed away June 12, 2008 due to illness incident to old age. Born October 9, 1918 in Manti, Utah to Edwin and Hannah Nielsen DeMill. Married Geniel Larsen July 5, 1939, marriage later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Gerald served in World War II in the Infantry as a Sergeant. After returning home, he homesteaded a farm at Heart Mountain, Wyoming. He worked as a tire re-capper at Cody Tire Co. In 1962 they moved back to Utah. He worked at the Tooele Army Depot and retired in 1983. He spent his retirement years traveling from Alaska to Mexico, wintering in Arizona and in his later years working in his yard and garden. He gave countless quiet acts of service wherever it was needed. He loved to fish (but wouldn't eat it!), family outings, visits from his grandchildren and family.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Geniel, son, Gerald Wayne DeMill (DeeAnn), five grandchildren, Collette Whitney, Pamela Welch (David), Debra Nordenstam, Christine Anderson (Kenneth), and Gerald Wayne DeMill Jr. (Susan), brother, Donald (Voniel), sister, Janet Jensen, sister-in-law, Joyce L. Story, brother-in-law, Boyd Larsen, many nieces and nephews, five grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Dawn, his parents, two brothers, Verl and Glen, two sisters, Fern and Dorothel.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Chase Lane Chapel, 1125 North 400 West Centerville, UT. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment in the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, Bountiful.
