LuJean Olpin Sundberg

LuJean Olpin Sundberg, age 84, died June 16, 2008 in Provo, Utah. LuJean was born August 28, 1923 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Lewis Edwin Olpin and Margaret Joseph Olpin. LuJean married her high school sweetheart, Elwood L. Sundberg, on June 11, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.

LuJean attended public schools in Pleasant Grove and attended Brigham Young University. After her marriage she helped establish the Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home of Orem in 1946, and served the community as a funeral director for 56 years. She served as president of the Utah Funeral Directors Association Women's Auxiliary. She was active in the community and civic affairs including Orem Women's Club.

LuJean was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all of the auxiliaries. LuJean and Elwood also served as temple workers for many years in the Provo LDS Temple.

LuJean is survived by her children, Kent (Liz) of Orem; Jan (Alyson) of Sandy; Jay (JoDee) of Orem; Shauna Bywater (Doug) of Park City; Kelly (Teri) of Orem; and a foster son, Ricardo Lacayo, Honolulu, Hawaii. She has 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. She is also survived by her three sisters, Kathryn Weeks, Elaine Westover, Jewel Knight and her brother, Gerald Olpin. LuJean was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood; her daughter, Marsha Sanderson; an infant son, Ronald Gary. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dee Olpin.

The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Steven Cherrington, the staff at Courtyard at Jamestown, Kelly and Mike at A-Plus Home Health, and our biggest thanks to her granddaughter, Ashley.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem, Utah, with a viewing Thursday evening at the mortuary 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the services on Friday. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
