Bess Teerlink Harward

Bess Harward passed away, surrounded by loving family, Tuesday 17, 2008, after a long and valiant battle with cancer.She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Abraham Teerlink and

Johanna Kortbeek Teerlink.

Bess graduated from Jordan High School, in 1947 and from the University of Utah in 1951. She worked as a stewardess for United Airlines until she married Jess Harward in 1957. They had five children and Bess dedicated her life to serving her family, friends, and neighbors. She volunteered many years to the Utah State PTA. After raising her children, she had a career working for the University of Utah until her retirement. Bess and Jess served a joyous and wonderful LDS mission in Roseville, California. She held many positions over the years in her ward's Relief Society, Young Women's, and Primary organizations.

Bess loved and appreciated music and instilled that appreciation in her children and grandchildren. She pursued her own piano studies enthusiastically throughout her later life. She most enjoyed bringing her children and grandchildren together to celebrate life's moments.

Bess is survived by her devoted husband; her loving children, Diane Hicks (Mike), Juli Tatafu, Cindy

Hardy, Jeff (Deanna), and Amy; siblings, Sue Johnson, Delores Tanner, and Abe Teerlink; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; one brother; and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Sat., June 21, 2008, 11 a.m. at the Wasatch 5th Ward, 8100 S. Top of the World Drive. Family and friends may call Friday, June 20, 2008 at the church from 6-8 p.m. and the day of the service from 10-11 a.m.

Interment at Salt Lake City
