Violet Shannon

1917 ~ 2008

Born September 25, 1917, Violet Anna Marie Wyman Shannon didn't know that any other language except Swedish existed until she entered school. Vi grew up in the small town of North St. Paul, Minnesota. She was active in her church, loved dancing, camping, swimming and rowing across the many lakes. In 1941, Violet married Charles, a young man she came to know through mutual youth leadership positions in their church. Charles became a geologist, which meant they lived in many different places throughout the United States. Violet embraced each move and adventure. She relished her role of Mother and had four children. Later in life, after settling in Salt Lake City, Vi worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield, mastering the use of computers in their youth.

Violet died peacefully from complications of Alzheimer's Disease on June 16, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, daughter, Janet Fratello and grandson, Joey Fratello.

Violet is survived by daughters Patty (Michael Clark) and Marty (Dean Workman), son Chuck, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brother Ronald Wyman and sister, Dory Setterholm.
