Janice Clark Christensen
"A Mother Who Knows"
Janice Clark Christensen, 57, passed away peacefully at home Wed., June 17, 2008, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.She was born July 2, 1950, in Rexburg, ID, to Elmer and LaRue Clark, and grew up in Bennion and Taylorsville, UT. She was an active member of 4-H. She attended Plymouth Elementary, Valley Junior High, and Granger High where she was active in Pep Club and was a Sterling Scholar in Business. She graduated from LDS Business College as an executive secretary and worked at American Western Life as a legal secretary for about four years.
She married Curt Christensen, August 20, 1971 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of eight children, Todd (Leslie) Christensen, Teresa (Adam) Smith, Jill Christensen, Christine (Bradley) DeVries, Lisa (Matthew) Eskesen, Erika (Derek) Lowe, Valerie Christensen, and Andrew Christensen; 10 grandchildren.
Janice was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and knew what mattered most in life. She planned for missions, temple marriages, and found her greatest joy in watching her children serve the Lord and live righteous lives. She created many cherished family traditions and memories. Her grandchildren treasure their "special blankets" that she made for them.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and embodied the motto "Charity Never Faileth." She cherished her pioneer ancestry and lived her life with faith in every footstep. She served faithfully in every calling she received and was always one of the first to offer support and help to friends and neighbors. She was a cherished friend to many and a dedicated visiting teacher. She willingly gave to her community as a coordinator in the Neighborhood Watch program and as a PTA officer. She recently received the Boy Scout District Award of Merit for her service in the Cub Scout program.
She is survived by her husband, Curt, their eight children and their families, her brother Brian Clark, and sisters Elaine Wagner, Miriam O'Connor, and Margaret Frandsen. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and LaRue Clark.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2008, at 11 a.m., West Jordan Heritage LDS Stake Center, 7330 S. 3200 W., West Jordan, UT. Friends may call Fri. from 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S.) South Jordan, UT and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment at South Jordan City Cemetery, 10650 South 1055 West, South Jordan, UT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the General Missionary Fund or the Temple Construction Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
