Kathryn H. Burrell
"Together Forever"
Kathryn Hardy Burrell was born on Nov. 20, 1919 to Charles Jesse Hardy and Clarice Harding Hardy. She was a descendant of Mormon pioneer families and was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She grew up in Salt Lake and attended East High School. Kathryn attended LDS Business College, Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. Working as a bookkeeper and stenographer helped her to develop business skills.
In June of 1939, she met a young Englishman at a canyon party. He sang a funny song about a man that had some fat pigs. He caught her attention. Some mutual friends arranged for them to go on a date to Saltair. It was the start of an eternal relationship. She married her Englishman, Wilfred Burrell, on April 11, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. They became a wonderful team. Wilfred had his own business, Burrell Jewelry. She became the bookkeeper, and they ran the business
together.
They established a wonderful home and raised five children, Kaylene Peterson (Byron), W. Craig Burrell (Gail), Charles Alfred Burrell,
Constance Sawatzki (Richard) and Kent Donald Burrell (Teresa). They have 26 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren.
Kathryn and Wilfred have always had a wonderful relationship which has been an example of a celestial marriage for their family and all who have come to know them. Wilf died in October of 2005. It has been a lonely time for her without him.
Kathryn has diligently served in many church callings. She has been involved in family history work and served 20 years in the extraction program. Kathryn died at her home on June 13, 2008.
