Ina M. Storey
1923 ~ 2008
Ina M. Storey, age 85, died June 14, 2008 at the Uintah Care Center in Vernal. Ina was born January 31, 1923 at Rio Blanco, Colorado to Orin T. Morrow and Waleta Marie Kline. She was raised on the ranch her father homesteaded near Meeker, Colorado. She was graduated from high school at Rifle, Colorado. She married Raymond E. Storey on October 18, 1941. They lived in several different states as they raised their family. In 1960, Ina and family moved to Vernal. After raising six children of her own and several foster children, Ina began her second career. She started by volunteering to be an aide at the Naples Elementary School. She discovered she had a real aptitude for teaching children some of the basics of education, particularly reading, which she loved to do all of her life. She enjoyed being in the class room so much she took college courses and finally obtained a degree in education from Utah State University in 1976 at the age of 53. She taught at Ashley Elementary for 15 years before retiring in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1987. She is survived by her six children, Raymond A. (Hilde) of Houston, Texas; Edward (Carol) of Monroe, Utah; Cheryl Grammer (Butch) of Vernal; Ilene Hamblin (Alden) of Cedar City; Rodney Storey (Janalee) of Rangeley, CO; Suzanne Taylor (Ronald) of Antelope Island, Utah and a sister, Una Raley of Meeker, CO.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Vernal 8th Ward Chapel (1374 West 1500 South). A viewing will be held Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Mortuary and at the chapel one hour prior. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
