Harold and June Turner

Together Forever

Our dear sweet Harold and June, loving husband and wife, father and mother, grandparents and great-grandparents, brother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at their home surrounded by their loving family. June passed June 14, 2008. Harold followed her June 16, 2008. Harold was born Sept. 3, 1917 to Ormus F. and Florence Turner in Elko, NV. He was second born in a family of seven. June was born Nov. 13, 1914 to Fred F. and Emily Johnson in Holden, UT. She was second born in a family of 17.

June married Tad G. Pope in 1936. They had one son, Tad J. Pope, born Oct. 6, 1946. They later divorced. On Feb. 10, 1948, Harold and June were married in Elko County, NV. They had a loving marriage for over 60 years.

Harold worked for General Motors as a parts man for over 30 years. June served friends at Hotel Utah for over 20 years. Harold was well known in the horse industry for raising, training and racing thoroughbred race horses. June loved to get together with her sisters, singing, dancing, and playing piano.

Harold and June devoted their lives to their family, T.J., Pauline, and their children. Whether it was playing dress up with Shannon, going to horse events with Stuart, horse shows with Brandi, or cheering on Brett during his football career, their support and love was always there. They were blessed with the arrival of their great-grandchildren, Dustin Metz, Katie and Casey Openshaw, and soon to be born great-great-granddaughter, Mylee Jade Metz.

Survived by son, Tad J. (Pauline) Pope; grandchildren, Shannon Healy, Stuart Pope, Brandi (Avery) Openshaw, and Brett Pope; great-grandchildren, Dustin (Shawntel) Metz, Katie and Casey Openshaw; Harold's sister, Muriel Lopez; June's brother, Jack; sisters, Utahna, Pearlie, Jeri, Madge, Blanche, Bernez, and Audrey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Harmony Hospice. Special thanks to Shannon Browing and Ronda Gleason, who have become a special part of our family.

Funeral services for both Harold and June will be held Saturday, June 21, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment, Draper City Cemetery.
