The Jazz on Thursday announced their annual Rocky Mountain Revue NBA summer league will be held July 18-25 at Salt Lake Community College's Lifetime Activities Center, with no games scheduled for July 20 or July 23.
Identities of the other five participating teams beyond the Jazz were not announced.
Tickets will cost $10 ($8 for SLCC students and faculty), with all tickets purchased for games on July 21, 22 or 24 including a free ticket to a Salt Lake Bees minor-league baseball game on either July 27, 28 or 29.
Specific teams and ticket-purchase information will be released at a later date.
Shooting guard Morris Almond and center Kyrylo Fesenko, both rookies last season, are expected to play for the Jazz.
Backup power forward Paul Millsap, who underwent surgery to repair a torn thumb ligament shortly after the 2007-08 season ended, is not expected to play — though there were no plans for him to do so even before undergoing surgery.
The rest of the Jazz roster remains undisclosed and uncertain.
OLYMPIC UPDATE: Makeup of USA Basketball's 2008 Olympic team continues to take shape, with all indications continuing to favor Jazz point guard Deron Williams and Jazz power forward Carlos Boozer making the 12-man roster for the upcoming Summer Games in China.
One day after Detroit point guard Chauncey Billups revealed he won't be playing, various reports (some with identified sources, others without) have Dallas point Jason Kidd, New Orleans point Chris Paul, Miami guard Dwyane Wade, Milwaukee guard Michael Redd, Detroit forward Tayshaun Prince all in, and big men Amare Stoudemire of Phoenix and Tyson Chandler of New Orleans out.
Denver forward Carmelo Anthony also has previously been identified as in along with Lakers' guard Kobe Bryant, Cleveland's LeBron James and the Raptors' Chris Bosh.
The roster will be formally unveiled Monday, and when it is, both Williams and Boozer are expected to be in as well.
UPDATED MOCKS: With early entrant withdrawal deadline for the June 26 NBA Draft having passed earlier this week, several Internet sites have updated their mock drafts.
Here's a look at the latest from some of the major ones, relative to the Jazz and their No. 23 overall selection in the draft's first round:
• ESPN.com has Utah taking 7-foot University of Nevada center JaVale McGee, with previous projected pick Roy Hibbert of Georgetown now going at No. 19 to Cleveland.
• NBADraft.net has the Jazz going with 7-foot Stanford center Robin Lopez, and Hibbert going No. 18 to Washington.
• DraftExpress.com predicts Utah will pass on Hibbert and take 7-1 French center Alexis Ajinca.
• RealGM.com has the Jazz passing on Hibbert and taking Kansas shooting guard Brandon Rush.
MISC.: The (Ohio) News-Herald reported after Hibbert worked out for the Cleveland Cavaliers last Tuesday that the 7-foot-2 Georgetown center "appears to be a player the Cavs are considering with the 19th pick." But ESPN.com reported Thursday that Cleveland has "been talking to a number of teams about Anderson Varejao," with one possibility being a swap that would send Varejao and the Cavs' No. 19 pick to Golden State for Brandan Wright. ... Cal big man Ryan Anderson, who canceled a scheduled workout in Utah last Sunday so he could contemplate whether or not to remain in the draft, is working out for teams again after deciding to stay in. ... After not auditioning any prospects since last Sunday, the Jazz are expected to release additional draft-workout plans today. ... With the NBA Finals having concluded with Boston's win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, at least one online gambling site — Bodog — has set odds for winning the 2009 NBA title. Utah and Houston both are 15-1, with only six other teams — Boston, the Lakers, Detroit, San Antonio, New Orleans and Orlando — being favored ahead of them. Boston is the favorite at 7-2, with six teams (the Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Sacramento and Seattle) the biggest underdogs at 100-1.
