PAYSON — Three people suspected of a string of burglaries in south Utah County were arrested Saturday after police were alerted by a tripped alarm at a local credit union.
Officers in Payson arrested two men and a woman early Saturday morning for investigation of burglary, criminal mischief, theft, possession of burglary tools and avoiding apprehension, according to 4th District Court affidavits of probable cause. The three are also being investigated by Salem police on similar allegations.
Payson police were dispatched to the credit union after an alarm went off early Saturday morning. Officers saw people fleeing the scene and arrested a 22-year-old Provo man, an 18-year-old Spanish Fork woman and an 18-year-old Pleasant Grove man.
According to the affidavit, Payson police found evidence of alleged forced entry into the credit union and allegedly found the suspects in possession of gloves and bolt cutters. At the Payson police department, some of the suspects allegedly admitted to planning and committing several burglaries between Spanish Fork and Payson, according to the affidavits.
They are suspected of burglarizing a snow cone shack located near the Penrod Car Wash in Salem as well as a general store with the same owner, according to the affidavits. Combined, the stolen items and and total damages to the two locations exceeded $2,000, according to the affidavits.
