LOS ANGELES — As if rising gas and food prices weren't enough, a ticket to the Magic Kingdom will soon cost a few bucks more.

The Walt Disney Co. has announced it is raising one-day ticket prices at its domestic parks starting Sunday.

Tickets for those aged 10 and older to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., will rise from $71 to $75, while tickets for children aged 3 to 9 will go from $60 to $63.

At Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., one-day prices will rise from $66 to $69 for those aged 10 and older, and from $56 to $59 for children aged 3 to 9.

The price increase applies in varying degrees for longer stays, while the park hopper option, an add-on that allows ticket-holders to move among any of Disney's parks, will cost $50, up from $45.

Disney last raised prices in August 2007, when one-day adult passes increased 6 percent and children's went up 7.1 percent, Rich Greenfield, an analyst at Pali Capital Research in New York, wrote in a report Monday. The company has also raised prices for certain amenities, such as a 50 percent increase for strollers, he wrote.

"Disney's price increases actually appear to be more modest than 2007," wrote Greenfield, who recommends investors hold the shares and doesn't own any himself. The price increases may compensate for slowing attendance, he said.

Disney parks spokeswoman Lisa Haines said in an e-mailed statement the price change reflects the entertainment value the company provides to customers.

"We've continued to invest nicely in the quality of the experience, the quality of the service, the quality of the entertainment and attractions," Chief Executive Officer Robert Iger said on a conference call last week to discuss fiscal third-quarter earnings. "We're delivering significant value to our customers."

Last week, Disney reported a 5 percent increase fiscal third-quarter park revenue, the smallest gain in at least a year.
