In an effort to educate residents about crime prevention, safety and community services, cities around the Salt Lake Valley will host Night Out Against Crime events.

Draper police will host Safety Day and Night Out Against Crime today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Draper City Park, 1300 E. 12400 South. The event will include information on identity theft, emergency preparedness, neighborhood watch, DARE and gangs. Equipment from several agencies will also be on display.

Also tonight, Salt Lake police will host events from 5 to 9 p.m. at the following locations: 1185 S. Windsor; 1033 S. Lake Street, West Point Park at 1100 N. 2200 West; Jordan Meadows LDS Stake Center at 400 N. 1900 West; 1158 E. Simondi Ave.; The Hook and Ladder, 1313 W. California Ave.

Several West Valley City neighborhoods have planned street parties.
