SANDY — A 10-year-old boy was flown to the hospital after crashing his bike into a parked car Monday evening.

Just after 5:30 p.m., the boy was making a wide turn onto Jason Drive (1240 East) near 10800 South when he crashed into the front end of a parked car, said Sandy Police Lt. Craig Watson.

The child was not wearing a helmet and was knocked unconscious, police said. Concerned about possible head injuries, officials elected to use a helicopter to transport the boy. Watson said he did not believe the child's injuries were life-threatening.
