SOUTH JORDAN — The South Jordan City Council is poised to approve an ordinance that would prohibit the use of toy guns on public property.
Toy guns have become ever more realistic and have caused safety concerns for police and residents, city officials have said.
The proposed ordinance, which has been rewritten to be less restrictive, does not limit the use of toy guns on private property.

The council will vote on the ordinance today during its 6 p.m. meeting at 1600 W. Towne Center Drive (10610 South). The council has held two public meetings and has received several letters and e-mails about the issue but won't hold a public hearing tonight.
