MIDVALE — A trust fund has been set up for the family of the young boy who drowned in a backyard swimming pool Monday.

Montana Oman, 3, was wearing a life jacket and swimming with his father in their pool near 500 E. Carmel Drive. The boy became sick, however, and vomited on his life jacket, said Midvale police Sgt. John Salazar.

The father took his son out of the pool and took his life preserver in the house to clean it. He left his young boy outside where other children were playing, Salazar said.

The other children, however, were playing a game on the other side of the yard and could not see the pool, he said.

When the father came back out a short time later, he found his child face down in the 4-foot pool. Oman was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
