Last year, Ballet West created the successful "Shoe In" project, in which local artists decorated pointe shoes for display in the Capitol Theatre lobby during performances.

The company is doing it again, and Ballet West is issuing a call for "Shoe In" entries.

Ballet West is also asking for submissions for a "Fantasy Tutu" project, in which artists will design a tutu from scratch.

Sketch submissions for "Shoe In" and "Fantasy Tutu" must be submitted by Dec. 20 via e-mail to submissions@balletwest.org.

Final creations are due Jan. 25, 2010, and the finalists will be chosen by committee.

Ballet West will provide a pair of pointe shoes for artists to decorate at their whim. The shoes must be decorated in a way that they are transportable and non-perishable.

Finished pointe shoes will be displayed beginning Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, in the Capitol Theatre and the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

All the entries will be available for purchase, and the remaining shoes will be auctioned off at the Ballet West Fashion Show in May.

For more information, call Ballet West at 801-323-6900.
