The final four semifinalists in MormonTimes.com's Showcase music video contest have been chosen.
In voting that ended midnight Feb. 14, Maxine Soakai, Poli Hala, Truman and Barry Hansen emerged with the most votes among the contestants.
Soakai, who lives in Provo, sings religious music; Hala, of Auckland, New Zealand, sings rhythm and blues; Chad and Ben Truman — brothers from Nashville, Tenn. — sing pop; and Barry Hansen, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, sings folk.
Shaun Barrowes, Due West, Brandon Osmond, Amy Van Wagenen, Aaron Southerland, Ryan Innes, Maati Maile Jr. and Nicole Sheahan are the other eight semifinalists from the first two rounds of voting. They join Soakai, Hala, Truman and Hansen for the final voting, which will run through March 2. Their videos will be on the Showcase Web site through the final round of voting.
Musicians who have the top six videos at the end of final voting will be featured at a live concert on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo. The top vote-getter, who will win a $5,000 first prize, will be announced at the concert. Second prize will be $2,000 and third prize will be $1,000.
Voters must register as users on the site, said Bob Wood, Mormon Times' marketing director, but it's an easy process.
Once registered, people can vote once a day.
