Eight members of the graduating class of 1969 from Brigham
Young University were given special recognition at a recent awards
celebration.Dell K. Allen, C. Max Caldwell, Lloyd Brent Dickson,
Norman L. Nielsen, Marilyn McMeen Brown, Gordon G. Conger, Nan Greene
Hunter and Jerry C. Washburn were honored for their outstanding contributions since graduation.
Allen has been a prolific author, inventor and teacher.Brown is an
author with more than a dozen novels published.Caldwell has been a
member of the LDS Church Adult Correlation committee.Conger has
practiced commercial and media law for 35 years and serves as
co-director of the Greater Seattle Area Public Affairs Council.Dickson
turned a successful engineering career into an established business
where he could employ members of his family, ward and stake.Hunter
founded a private school in San Jose, Calif.Nielsen helped create the
Young Ambassadors program and was state chairman of the Miss Utah
pageant for 20 years.Washburn is the current mayor of Orem and brought
the first Toyota and Nissan dealership to Utah Valley.
